A Family Business
Tingalpa Crane Hire has been run by the Cherrie family since 2009, when it was started by Christopher Cherrie - owner/operator at the time of our 20 Ton Kato Slew Crane. After adding a Franna to the fleet by acquisition of "Ward Crane Hire", Tingalpa Crane Hire continued to grow it's client base in general crane hire. From boat masts to air conditioners, steel erection & pools.
Chris teamed up with his son Joseph Cherrie in 2013, who's industry contacts and skills in scheduling funnelled even more work into the company. Joe's experience as Allocations Manager at Boom Logistics and other companies allowed Tingalpa Cranes to take on bigger jobs, needing more advanced job inspections and lift plans, and with greater safety requirements. They also added two more Frannas to the business.
With Chris's retirement in 2015, Joe continued to build and expand with high ambitions and Admin support from his wife, Lisa. The fleet continued to grow with the addition of a 3 Ton Telehandler, a 55 Ton Terex All Terrain, 10 Ton City Crane, 2.9 Ton Crawler Crane, 60 Ton Liebherr All Terrain, 25 Ton Franna, 28 Ton Tidd, and a wide range of equipment, trucks and vehicles.

2020 demanded a sea change and new direction. After careful thought and inspiration for a switch in gears Joe made the big decision to sell the Tingalpa Crane Hire fleet to East Coast Cranes. From there Tingalpa Cranes continued at first in a modest labour hire capacity, but the market had other ideas for us.
The huge demand for skilled labour in Brisbane has seen Tingalpa Crane Hire once again grow to a crew of several dozen crane riggers/operators/dogman. Renewed labour expansion also pressured the need for balance with machinery, but this time our fleet has grown with the addition of brand new Spider Cranes plus a Mini Crawler Crane!
The main thing that has remained the same is Joe's firm committment to personal customer service. If he's got the solution, he'll make it happen. He's also worked for years alongside the other crane companies in the SE QLD region, so he knows how to branch out for other solutions when you need them.
